Which features are included in my subscription?

The sfty Sense smoke detector (available in certain countries) also has a motion sensor and indoor climate sensor. To utilise these features, you need to download the sfty app from the App store or Google Play.

In addition, you can access personal security features such as Find me via the sfty app.

What happens if the smoke alarm goes off during cooking or when there is a small fire, does it alert all neighbours immediately?

In the event of an unwanted (false) alarm, you have approximately 3 minutes (escalation time) to air out unwanted smoke before neighbours are notified. 

How often should the smoke detector batteries be changed?

Smoke detector batteries should be changed every 12 months to ensure optimal performance. Battery status can be tracked in the sfty Control Management Dashboard and app.

Can I mute my smoke detector sounder?

Yes, you can mute your smoke detector by pressing the Test/Mute button. This will desensitize the device for 10 minutes, allowing some smoke from cooking for example to pass without triggering the alarm. 

In the event smoke is detected, how long does it take before we are told to evacuate?

After the delay time for alarms between residential units (approx. 3 minutes), the alarm escalates from one residential unit to the others in the same smoke zone. Residents are notified with the siren and the fire service is notified by the Alarm Centre/CMS if contracted.

Notifications are also sent via app and text to residents where a fire has been reported, with user-defined information such as fire instructions and information about the meeting place.

What happens if the smoke alarm goes off and I'm not at home?

You will be called by the alarm centre/ CMS (if contracted), to check that no one is in your home. The Alarm Centre/CMS (if contracted) escalates the alarm.

Who is notified if the sfty Sense motion detector is triggered, for example in the event of a break-in?

If the motion detector is triggered, selected people in your nominated security network will receive notifications, including yourself.

Under Settings in the sfty app, you can invite to your own security network. We recommend inviting friends, family and close neighbours who are in the immediate area. You can add these people are to your security network in the sfty app, together with the desired access level. 

In case of a water leak, can I stop the alarm sounder?

In the event of a water leak alarm, you can mute the detector by pressing the Mute button in the app or removing the cable sensor from the detector.  Mute command may take up to 1 minute to reach the detector.

After you have addressed the cause of the water leak, wipe dry the detector and cable sensor and put them back in place. The cable must be dry before you add it back to the body of the device, if it is still wet it will resound the alarm. 

We do not recommend removing the batteries to resolve the alarm.

Will all neighbouring water leak devices immediately alarm if my water leak detector detects a leak?

No, they won't. There is a 15-minute alarm delay set between neighbours in the same riser to minimise frequent escalated alarms. This approach helps strike a balance between fewer but more accurate alarms.

During this delay, the water leak device that detected the leak beeps at 100 dB, giving the resident time to locate the leak, find the stopcock, and shut off the water supply before the alarm propagates to neighbouring water leak detectors in the same riser.

Who is notified of a water leak after the delay time has expired?

After 15 minutes, neighbours in the apartment below, the management board/property manager, a caretaker, or an affiliated plumber will be notified, depending on how the sfty platform has been configured.

Do you have to have a smartphone and the sfty app for the smoke detection or water leak devices to work?

No, you do not need to have a smartphone, although we of course recommend this to get the most out of the service. Without the app, the audible alarms will still sound.

How often do the water leak device batteries need to be changed?

The batteries have an approximate lifespan of ca. 12 months dependent on usage. Battery status is a key indicator tracked in the sfty Management Dashboard and sfty app. Low battery notifications are shared several times before battery depletion to help prevent devices going offline.

Will I be notified when the batteries should be replaced?

Yes, depending on your configuration you can receive a message in the app and via SMS both when they should be changed and when you should change them.

Can I use Energizer AA Lithium batteries?

Yes, only AA Energizer Ultimate Lithium batteries should be used. We have tested and recommend this brand as provides the best lifespan for our water leak device.

Can residents buy additional detectors beyond those purchased by the board/property manager?

Yes, residents can order additional detectors through the board/property manager and have them installed during a joint installation. The cost for extra detectors and installation will be invoiced to the board or to each resident, depending on the agreement with the board.
